The Power of In-Person Connections
Digital technology has given us a lot of power, but many people have forgotten how powerful in-person connections can be.
Here's a question for you: what's more impactful, an email or a phone call? A series of Facebook messages or a long walk together in-person?
Of course, for people who live across state lines or country lines, digital is the only option available. But for those of us who live closer, we might sometimes forget about the benefits of time spent physically together. In most social movements throughout history, people spent tons of time together.
In-person relationship building can even be a bit scary sometimes because we can feel that it's more personal. It's much easier to distance yourself emotionally if you're doing it all virtually. If you're face-to-face, you're often going to build a deeper bond faster, and that can be scary. But the benefits are profound, as well.
So anyway, don't forget the power of in-person time. Frankly, I think we would build a much more effective movement for animals if we prioritized in-person time with each other just a little bit more.
Hopefully Connect For Animals can help facilitate some of that in-person connection in the coming months and years.
