Future Animals Are Depending On Us

The suffering caused by factory farming doesn't just matter because of the animals who exist today; it also matters because countless future generations of animals will continue being born into this system for years and years until we stop it.

Factory farming didn't really exist before 50–100 years ago. In that time, we've witnessed the explosion of intensive animal farming and a massive increase in animal suffering.

But in that time, we've also witnessed the birth of the modern animal rights/welfare movement, the global spread of the concept of ethical veganism, and a growth in plant-based food technologies.

The next 50 years will potentially see a continued increase in the numbers of animals killed for food, especially chickens, fishes, shrimps, and insects (mostly to feed to other animals raised for food). It will also potentially see the continued growth of animal welfare laws and regulations, veganism, and the global pro-animal movement.

Which of these trends will win out in the long run?

Well, that probably has a lot to do with what we—you, and I, and other pro-animal people—choose to do now.

May we choose our strategies and tactics wisely, to create a much better future for us all.
